In Budget 2024 the Government provided over €68 million to extend the free schoolbooks scheme to remove the cost of schoolbooks for students in Junior Cycle years in post-primary schools in the Free Education Scheme. The Government has introduced a new scheme from the start of the new school year 2024/25. Therefore, all books and most stationary will be provided to students in 1st, 2nd and 3rd year. Some items will likely be required such as a calculator, this information will be communicated to you at a later stage when all details are available to us. As a school we operate a book rental system for parents to reduce the cost of schoolbooks to families. This scheme is available to 5th and 6th year students. However, they will need to purchase items such as copies, novels and exam papers. Parents are also free not to pay for the rental scheme and to purchase their own books privately, this is a much more expensive option.
